ORGANISATIONAL ENQUIRIES

In the hustle and bustle of programme or project based work it can be hard to carve out the time and headspace to reflect deeply on your approach and working methods. I can help to make space for this reflection, to interrogate your approach, and help you to articulate the practices and principles that you have developed intuitively over time.

This work is best undertaken as an extension of a project or site specific enquiry, because I can be most helpful to you if I understand how your organisation operates. This process is more dialogical than creative, but I think that my position as an artist researcher means we can talk the same language and more effectively get to the root of your work.

I recommend this type of enquiry for organisations who wish to document and share an approach they have honed over several years, or who feel they have reached a point where change or development is due.

Alternatively, embedding creative research within your organisation in the long term demonstrates a real commitment to creative evolution. It can keep meaningful dialogue flowing, foster a culture of innovation and adaptability, empower members to embrace new perspectives and drive positive change.

As we developed our approach, Nic was as a near constant presence in our projects, providing an extra level of focused listening. Having someone around to observe and consult with participants, stakeholders and audiences from an outside perspective provides us with an extra level of observation and reflection at each stage, and helps us reflect, adapt and grow both during and after a project.

2022- Holding Lightly- Winstanley & Restoke

Holding Lightly is a resource/toolkit which outlines Restoke’s approach to co-creating performances with communities, looking at the process, power-dynamics and guiding principles in their work. Restoke wanted to share their learning so that other practitioners could benefit from their experience. I am still working with Restoke as they continue to learn, update and mould this resource as live and useful document.

Holding Lightly also serves to guide them as their work expands beyond making performances and reminds them of the carefully crafted steps and principles which underpin their projects.
